I had a moment of beauty on my walk to work yesterday morning, that I feel like sharing:
I came across a mostly-frozen puddle, and there were close to 100 starlings all bathing in it at once. There were so many that their wings were tossing the water up into the air, and the droplets kept catching the sun, making it look like they were tossing glitter into the air. I sat down on the sidewalk and paused to watch them for a little while. Eventually I got up to continue on my way, and when I walked by, they all flew up at once in a murmuration, and as they did so, the water that fell off of them made it look like the clear sky was raining gold.
The world can be a beautiful place, even when it’s a muddy, oily puddle.
